Open Question: X box power adapting?

I live in Thailand and I have an american x box. Recently, on accident, my x box adapter was blown up when someone plugged it in without an adapter. I was wondering, if we got a replacement adapter for our x box that was 220v, would we need a transformer to switch the power, as that type of cord is the only that's available. If we do hook up a 220v adapter with an american x box, would it destroy the x box, or would it function? Would it even fit? Let me know, thanks.
