Please help!!i just can't get my 3 year old to draw or color. I tried so many times since he was one but he is just not interested at all.he still scribbles and he would do it for a minute or two and that's it.i tried asking him to "draw a flower for mummy" or to draw a person , a circle , I tried drawing something simple for him and asking him to do same but he just says " naaaah , you do it mummy ". I got him a canvas and some acrylic paints and brushes , he did a bit of that but nothing that resembles any form, just very abstract color smudging a bit like elephant paintings that I saw I Thailand :)honestly this worries me especially since I heard about this DAP test where kids are asked to draw a person and than their intelligence is judged by the way they draw and at the age of 3 they should be drawing head with eyes and mouth and arms and legs that sort of grow out of head. I think my son is very smart because his speech is way more advanced than any 3 year old I know or meat at the playground, he verbally argues with me like if I ask him to wash his hands after going to toilet he says "but mummy I didn't touch anything",he can sing in tune and can recognize many pop songs just after hearing first few notes and knows lyrics as well , he can recognize and properly pronounce at least 10 different sorts of dinosaurus so there is no way that he is not smart but why won't he draw at least a circle for me.He also has no interest in learning letters or numbers and tries to get out of that activity by saing he is too tired or hungry or that it's too late and we should go to bed .Is this normal? Can I do anything to get him to draw?maybe my approach is wrong? to looney dufus, I said he can pronounce names of at least 10 dinosaurs not names in general, and I do think its impressive for a 3 year old to be able to say words like ankylosaurus triceratops or tyranosaurus rex.
